Brushing
It's important to brush your hair daily, and even multiple times a day if necessary, to remove any knots or tangles. When brushing, whether you're using a tangle teaser, paddle brush, or extension brush, start from the ends and work your way carefully up toward the scalp. Brushing your hair before it gets wet will prevent it from tangling while you wash it.
Washing
Before washing your hair extensions, it's important to brush them thoroughly to remove any tangles. Divide your hair into sections and wash each section separately using shampoo. Use lukewarm water to avoid leaving any residue behind. Start at the top of your head and gently massage the shampoo into your hair, working your way towards the nape of your neck. Avoid using circular motions or flipping your head upside down, as this can cause tangles. Once you've shampooed your hair, apply a hydrating conditioner. Focus on the mid-shaft to the tips of the hair and leave the conditioner on for 2-3 minutes before rinsing. Follow the drying instructions for your extensions.
Drying
When drying your hair, it's important to towel or air dry as much as possible. It is highly recommended to use leave-in conditioners, heat protectants, and treatment oils to protect your extensions. If you are using a blow dryer, be sure to rough dry the hair, keeping all hot tools away from the point of attachment to ensure that extensions do not melt or bond together.
Sleeping
It is recommended to ensure that one's hair is thoroughly dried, brushed and secured in a loose braid before retiring for the night. This ensures that tangles are prevented from forming too close to the scalp. However, in the event that such tangles do occur, it is advisable to schedule an appointment with a stylist for prompt resolution.
Swimming
Swimming with extensions is not recommended as it can lead to brittleness and shedding. However, if you choose to swim with extensions, it is important to take certain measures to safeguard your investment.
Before swimming, it is advisable to wet your hair with fresh tap water and apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner to the ends. After that, you should put your hair in a loose ponytail or braid to prevent tangling.
Once you have finished swimming, it is essential to rinse your extensions with fresh water and spray them with leave-in conditioner. This will help keep them moisturized and prevent any damage caused by chlorine or salt water.
